Treaty of Trianon
About the Treaty of Trianon
Hungary lost 72 percent of its territory and 64 percent of its population, with 3.3 million ethnic Hungarians under foreign rule, to Romania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and Austria. Trianon remains the defining national trauma in Hungarian politics a century later, revanchism over lost lands shaping interwar policy and current Hungarian relations with neighbors.
