Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
About the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk
Lenin new government exited World War One, ceding Poland, Baltic states, Finland, Ukraine, and more, a third of Russia population and farmland, plus huge indemnities. Germany could shift troops west for the spring 1918 offensive. The treaty was annulled eight months later under the Armistice of November 1918, and Versailles confirmed the abrogation. It taught the Bolsheviks bitter lessons and set Soviet revanchist aims for the next decades.
