About the Treaty of Aigun

Russia Muravyov, with Crimean War timing and British French pressure on China, extracted the left bank of the Amur, 600,000 square kilometers, without a shot. The first of the Aigun Peking chain reversing Nerchinsk. China and Russia settled their last border disputes, over Amur river islands, only in 2004 to 2008, leaving the Aigun line in place. The unequal treaties framing remains central to Chinese sovereignty narratives, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan.
