About the Treaty of Vereeniging

Ended the Second Boer War after guerrilla years and British concentration camps. The two republics became British colonies with promised responsible self government, arriving in 1907, and union with the Cape and Natal in 1910. The treaty made no mention of the black majority, whose political rights were postponed, shaping South Africa for the century ahead.
