About the Treaty of Paris 1763

Ended the Seven Years War, the first true world war. France ceded Canada and the land east of the Mississippi except New Orleans to Britain, keeping only trading posts in India. Spain ceded Florida to Britain, receiving Louisiana from France as compensation. Britain emerged as the dominant global colonial power. The war debt directly caused British taxation of American colonies, setting the stage for the American Revolution a dozen years later.
