About the Treaty of Amiens

The short peace that paused the revolutionary wars. Britain returned most colonial conquests, kept Ceylon and Trinidad, and France withdrew from Naples and Egypt while keeping puppet expansion on the continent. Both sides treated it as a truce to rearm, and it broke in May 1803 over Malta and commerce, opening twelve years of war until Waterloo. It is cited as the only general peace between 1793 and 1814.
