About the Entente Cordiale

The settlement that ended centuries of colonial rivalry: Britain recognized French primacy in Morocco, France recognized the British position in Egypt, and fishing and border disputes from Newfoundland to Siam were settled. Not a formal alliance but a series of agreements, it became the core of the Triple Entente with Russia in 1907, dividing Europe into armed camps before 1914.
