Pact of Steel
About the Pact of Steel
The military alliance Ribbentrop and Ciano signed in Berlin, binding Germany and Italy to immediate joint war, the name suggested by Mussolini. Italy, unready, had inserted a three year grace period that Hitler ignored by invading Poland within months. The pact chained Italy to the German war effort and collapsed with the regimes in 1943 and 1945.
