About the Edict of Nantes

Granted Huguenots, French Protestants, freedom of conscience, worship rights in specified towns, fortified safe cities, civil equality, and mixed courts. Henry IV, Paris vaut bien une messe, traded his faith for the throne then protected his former co religionists. Richelieu dismantled the military clauses, La Rochelle 1628. Louis XIV revoked it 1685, dragonnades drove 200,000 plus Huguenots out, brain draining France into Prussia, Holland, England.
