About the Single European Act

First major revision of Rome, launched the Single Market program by 1992, 300 directives removing physical, technical, and fiscal barriers. Qualified majority voting extended, ending national vetoes on market measures, and European Political Cooperation formalized. Delors drive, Cockfield white paper, it doubled intra European trade in a decade and made Europe of the Regions rhetoric real. Thatcher signed, later regretted the majority voting consequence.
