About the INF Treaty
Reagan and Gorbachev eliminated the entire class of ground launched 500 to 5,500 km missiles, Pershing II, SS 20, after Euromissile crisis and 1983 Able Archer scare. First treaty to reduce, not just limit, with intrusive on site verification, pioneering inspections. It ended the SS 20 crisis polarizing Europe. US withdrawal 2019 over Russian 9M729 violations, and now both sides deploy formerly banned missiles, China never bound, it arms race concerns.
